It's been a few months since this whole ordeal started, but it's still the talk of the town. The "official" story given to us is that James, his wife Maria, and Deputy Stewart had all been arrested for growing and distributing marijuana.

Sheriff Clark has mostly been silent about the issue, but a few close to him say that he knows neither Stewart nor James would ever get involved in something like that.

The story continues: On Sunday, the fifth of June, James called Stewart shouting that the feds were onto their illegal business. Stewart told him that to start burning down the marijuana to hide any trace of it. He and Sheriff Clark were busy on call that day, so Stewart told him he'd head to the farm as early as possible Monday morning. That's the last time anyone has seen James, Maria, and Stewart.

One of the guys at Mickey's Pub, Bill, I think his name was, who is the closest neighbor to James, said he saw some twenty-odd black vans drive past his house towards James's farm around 8 AM.

Anyway, that's the "official" story; nobody in town really believe it. Hell, why should we? The feds are still there up at James's farm! The farm is completely gated off and a massive tent is set up. "We're searching for any additional marijuana plants" one of the agents told me. Yeah, right.

Some of the feds are staying at the motel in town. There's been some clashes with them and the townsfolk. More and more in the past few weeks, actually. "James and Stewart are good men!" the folk yelled. They demanded more details, wanting to know when the trial is, and all that. But the agents won't tell us anything about James, Stewart, or Maria. Hell, they're even threatening to evacuate the entire town. Bill's already been kicked off his own land because it's "too close" to James's farm.

God damn them.
