Because 300kW will only power 2-3 AI racks. An AI data center can have 1000-2000 racks. How could this be cost-effective to have to put upwards of 1000 satellites in orbit, with hardware you can't easily upgrade?

Right - that’s another thing altogether. I don’t the powers the limiter here; that’s available with efficient solar.
The hurdle I don’t think they can overcome is physical footprint. It would need thousands of large satellites, which the current orbit couldn’t fit, and the cost to get them up there would be huge.
