“Computer Lockdown Laws” (CLL) He makes a good point. These ploys are designed well to fool people. They have been working on some of them for decades. In the tech community we named this one the “Think of the children!” ploy years ago. It’s still around because it works. People who have not had this ploy explained to them will argue with you endlessly about protecting the children. Their attention is on the wrong thing. They should be thinking about what the government *will* do once we give it the powers it is asking for. That’s why Rossman is right about this. We need to rebrand this with a name that tells people immediately what the government is trying to do to us. We need to draw their attention to that instead what the government (and (((whoever))) is behind this) wants us to focus on. I like “Computer Lockdown Laws”. I can’t think of anything more direct than that.
