Then the car reversed direction and traveled back to Mercer Island at low speed at 1 a.m. Successive trips increased to 55 mph, back-and-forth on the eastbound track, said spokesperson Henry Bendon. The railcar made a couple slow trips on the westbound track and will return Tuesday night for faster trial runs, he said. Results haven’t been analyzed yet, but trips went smoothly overall and “we’re really excited,” he said.
