This thing was built by someone who doesn't play guitar, who assumes that the only thing you can do is pick a note or strum a cord, without understanding that different types of strings produce different sounds, and that different types of pickups provide different sound. How do you do pinch harmonics? How do you rake? Is the attack (inital sound) different depending on if you strum up vs down? How do you do hammer-on and pull-offs? How do you trill? How do you dead strum?

Electronics cannot replace everything analog - some things just can't be done electronically.

When people use that phrase, it usually means they're not sorry. You're not sorry. And you're right. This is a nice tech demo but it doesn't come close to being anything like a real guitar. The closest it may come, is when it gets smashed into a drum set on stage.

It's bereft of all the subtleties that the string-and-fretboard system makes possible. Probably can't even do dynamic volume. Guitar to MIDI converters have existed for decades. In my limited experience, some are shitty, some are very shitty with a lot of delay to boot. Casio once even made a MIDI guitar outright (shitty).

Don't want to shit on the creator at all. It's a cool project and he probably learned a lot doing it, as you do. It's still not a guitar, it's a keyboard with an awkward UI.

Certainly not a traditional guitar, but depending on exactly how touch sensitive it is, it could be very much like a guitar and perhaps better if it allows more nuanced or distinct tone generation.
