It really is not that hard people. At this point, make sure your family either destroys (with a hammer) devices or give them to you to wipe before they give them away or "recycle" them. This is a UK report but I am sure it is similar or worse in the USA too.

And the other two thirds think that it gets deleted when they delete it.

While I would never take the risk, always wipe, I just thought recycling would scrap it in pieces for further processing.
