Low pressure sodium is best.

With a CRI (color rendering index) of just 25 (out of 100), low pressure sodium lamps aren't the best at anything requiring actually seeing things.

They make lots of light with little energy. Kwitcherbitchen.

LEDs use less energy than LPS and have a high CRI. That makes them superior to your precious, narrow spectrum sodium lamps.

They also don't last as long. Mercury vapor is the best, I've seen those on for 30 years, transformer plates squealing like a barrel of rusty nails being vibrated.

I read somewhere that LED lights are actually blue and use another component to partially strip out some of the spectrum but can still have damaging effects on eyes and skin.

Link is just from a quick web search, any thoughts on this would be nice, it's come up in conversation before.
