Blue light at night like the stupid high powered grid of LEDs are toxic to the sleep cycle, and they make weird-ass shadows since the grid of LEDs is usually not shaded/glazed by other plastic. It's completely abnormal to have your eyes burned at night if you accidentally look at those streetlights. Fuck LED streetlamps and fuck halogen doom ray headlights that these "modern" cars have

Most modern cars have LED headlamps. The halogens lasted for a long while, they were too restrictive from a design perspective. There are still a bunch with halogen lights, but those are being phased out. These are mostly the lower end cheapo cars like a toyota corolla or similar tier.

The higher end vehicles moved to the LED a few years back. With the lower end models of those brands coming as they were redesigned.

Many cars, still employ simple incandescent bulbs for things like turn signals, but those aren't what you are talking about being too bright.

The LEDs are often immensely brighter than the halogens.

LED light is available in all colors. The argument for bluish colors is that they keep you awake while driving. The argument against bluish colors is that the eyes need much more time to adapt to the dark again (the headlights in France were once yellow for that reason).

Low pressure sodium is best.

Low pressure sodium is best.

With a CRI (color rendering index) of just 25 (out of 100), low pressure sodium lamps aren't the best at anything requiring actually seeing things.

They make lots of light with little energy. Kwitcherbitchen.

LEDs use less energy than LPS and have a high CRI. That makes them superior to your precious, narrow spectrum sodium lamps.

I like the incandescent one, it's more atmospheric.

my point still stands

Shit, I stand corrected:

At room temperature, most of the emission is in the infrared (IR) spectrum: 73–86  though above around 525 °C (977 °F) enough of it becomes visible for the matter to visibly glow. This visible glow is called incandescence.

I say the old light it has a warmth to it like a candle the new one is to sterile and focused.

I disagree with you.

I can actually SEE at night with the LED. I never could see a damn thing with orange light. I can't stand the "soft white/piss yellow" lights when I was a kid. LEDs all over this place. It's like a new world opened up.

That's a fine opinion. I can see fine at night as long as the moon is shining.

Light pollution is way different. I get you 100%. I am just talking about inside the city.

[–] 1 pt

As long as they are somewhat dim I don't really care. I hate the massive amount of light pollution making it harder to see the night sky. I can't wait to move out of this hell hole and hopefully have some land.

I wear my sunscreen at night

In CA they have the orange yellow street lights in neighborhoods and it's ugly. I never get used to it.

I love LEDs, but the ones used in streetlights are crap and too blue. The orange tint is much more relaxing.

There are halogens with light yellow colors. Its the best.

It would be better to go back to candles, but I’m a slave to convenience like the rest of you.
