According to AAA, temperatures below 20°F (-6.7°C) can cut an EV battery’s capacity by up to 41%.

Don't forget, the range they say these cars have is inflated. The batteries run at around 80% -- charge them 100% and it reduces the lifespan of the batteries. Using the heater, driving in snow, driving with something on the roofracks, towing anyithing, massively reduces your range.

But that, bad as it is, is not the main reason electric vehicles are impractical. It's the time it takes to charge them. Over half an hour for a partial charge. And you will probably not be the first at the charging station, because there are not nearly enough of them even for the electrics on the road today, so you are waiting not only for your own charge, but for the charge of the guy, or guys, in front of you. It's not practical. We can't wait for two hours, or three hours, to get a charge that lets us drive 200 miles, maybe.

Depends on if you drive like a moron or not. You don't even have to try an electric car to know. If you can't get the advertised MPG for your car and there's not something wrong with the car, there's something wrong with the driver.

In my gas cars I can get about 10% better MPG than the window sticker, and in EVs I can get almost 50% more mileage than advertised.

But that, bad as it is, is not the main reason electric vehicles are impractical. It's the time it takes to charge them.

Only an issue if you plan on driving farther than the vehicle's range in that time period. If your car gets 300 miles to a charge and you drive less than 300 miles a day, charge time is irrelevant.

Enjoy buying new batteries every 5-6 years

I'm trying to enjoy my battery replacements, but I've had one of them since 2012 and 163,000 miles and the battery is still fine.

I want a refund. I'm not getting all this enjoyment people with no actual experience claim I'm going to get.

Since when did common sense enter into this? Shame on you.

Since the article focuses on Canada, a reminder: Canada's emissions in 2019 reached 737 Mt CO2 eq, which made up 1.5% of global GHG emissions https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/environmental-indicators/global-greenhouse-gas-emissions.html Even if Canada stopped all GHG emissions (and thus stopped all economic activity), it would make next to no difference in "saving the planet". Trudeau is a WEF stooge.
