Meh. "First liquid robot" is a stretch. Typical technology reporting.

It's a ferromagnetic gel. Nothing more, nothing less.

What they don't show is all the magnets required to get that gel to move. The only thing novel about this is that these researchers did some nice work to model how the gel will interact with multiple magnetic fields.
