It has removable battery and a better camera than many current flagship phones. The camera is really good.

Its old but I like it better than my new Samsung a10e. It allows me to easily disable things I don't want to use and it has some built in cleanup options that I like.

I wish someone would make a truly modular cellphone where you could easily switch out parts (get a faster processor as easily as swapping a battery etc).

$700 phone. lol

yea, I know, but it is basically the only one on the market. LG G4 looks good, I can buy one in my country for about 80$

I'd still be using my MotoG from 2013, but the battery has died - replacements that work generally aren't available - and root certs are so out of date that nothing works.

The 3G shutdown would have been the final blow had I not turned it off last year.

3g can still work better than congested 4g in certain areas. Its a little know secret.

3g is not on the air here anymore. We still have 2g, I have m2m devices on that.

3g is 100% still broadcast. At least in my city the towers are still outputting.

Current android version for that phone.

I’m running and s4 with it. Removable battery is the best.

all of the G series phones were shit.

G3 was built like crap. Broke very easily.

G4 suffered from boot loop issues

G5 fell apart

I don't think anyone used the g6 or g7 since there were much better options at the time.

The early G4 had the boot loop but not the later ones and not all of the early ones. Spec wise it still beats many current mid range phones. It has a better speaker than many current flagship phones and a amazing camera. It also has far less shit running in the background than any current phone along with more options to disable services. Also the removable battery is nice. Newer does not = better.

I'm with ya. The removable battery was ditched for reasons of profit and consumer demand for water proofing.

I had a G3, and then a V20 I think, the one with really good audio. They were decent phones but they didn't do anything a new phone can't do better, other than the replaceable battery. And if I'm going to lug around a spare battery for my phone I might as well just carry around a second burner phone.

The older phones allow you to disable apps and services to a much larger degree than modern phones. This is what I like, there is probably 70% less shit running on it than any current phone. Also the camera on my g4 is legit better than most any current phone and it does have an excellent speaker.

LG's flagships were V not G. Their flagship in 2015 was the V20 and the G4 was a lesser version of that. I stuck with LG for a while and have the V60 now. No more removable battery but still has an sd card. Gonna miss LG phones.

Looks like the v20 came out September 16 and the G4 April 15. I'm finding this LG to be superior to both my a10 and REVVL V+ . Removable battery, beautiful screen, the speaker is the loudest I have ever heard on any phone. What I like most is it has so much less bloat than new phones and you also have way more control over the processes.

I'm going to keep using it. Its not as powerful as my V+ but it doesn't need to be. It will be just about as fast as a modern phone at the end of the day. We are talking fractions of a second slower.

What prompted you to switch? Did your Samsung break or something?

[–] 0 pt

No, I just decided to test it side by side with my Samsung when I came across it in my desk. The screen on my Samsung is better but its much lower res. The G4 even at 7 years old is faster and has less clutter. Also has a way better speaker and amazing camera.

That was my favorite phone ever. I plugged a battery in to charge and swapped them out so I never needed to plug it in while using it.

I switched to a S9+ and feel like I look like shit in every picture I take. I remember feeling cool looking in that phone's camera though.

Turn on developer mode, it exists on the new phones

I had the same one when released & got for free w/ 2 year contract. Was looking through old photos last week and realized how well the photos hold up compared to my new phone that will take an 8 MB photo but still look like a potato took them

The GCam/Google Camera builds take amazing photos. People have ported/modified it to work with many phones.

Yes the 16mb g4 camera is the shit. I can take legit good space pictures with it using long exposure.
