“There are certain safety rules and the child, apparently, violated them. When he made his move, he did not realise he first had to wait,” Mr Smagin stated. “This is an extremely rare case, the first I can recall,” he added.

When it comes to safety there are certain things you don't let a seven year old do because they are not great at following directions. You don't let them handle guns. You don't let them drive a car. And you don't let them play with robots that can crush their hand like it was made of playdough.

The robot is unsafe, and the child should not have been allowed anywhere near it.

You don't let them handle guns

Go back to China, you commie fuck

I don't know if there is a video on that website but I couldn't see any on my browser. I think this is the video of the incident: A chess robot broke a 7-year-old boy's finger. (youtube.com)

Why do they need such a strong robot? It's the kind you would find in a factory.

Intimidation tactic. Now every chess master will know not to fuck with the chess robot.

I wonder if the AI is programmed to "accidently" tip the board over with its leg?

It's a standard factory robot programmed for chess. They're strong because that's how they are made.

Odd they aren't emotionally fragile and weak like their opponents feelings.

The best part about this story is the poor translation.

In Russia even chess is a contact sport.

That's not a legal move.

It's not specifically illegal either!

'... and the kid visibly uncomfortable earlier than a girl adopted by three males rush in liberating the boy from the grip of the machine.' Love the translating sounds like a punchline and then this one: 'Mr Smagin advised RIA Novosti the incident was “a coincidence” and the robotic is “absolutely safe”.' I think the term he's looking for is either 'adjacent' or 'vaccine'.

EDIT: Curious why it wasn't programmed to simply release if anything interrupted the control arm ??. Oh it's russia, right there's the problem then. In Russia, Chess machine play you !!.

Sore loser eh?

He's definitely sore, but the robot is the one who forfeited the match.
