This has massive positive implications, if true.

Expect Gates or Bezos to buy the rights and bury it.

Is the point of MIT to invent shit and bury it?

15 years ago I read about how they invented a solar panel with 85% efficiency. Thats unheard of. Today it's like 12%

You can't mass manufacture everything. There are a lot of great inventions that exist but they're too fucking expensive or difficult to produce for the world. Graphene is a good example. Has some amazing properties; however, it seems to be destined to stay in the lab.

This is very true. This is one of the primary reasons inventions don't go anywhere. The ability to mass produce at profitable levels is a make or break market reality.

The efficiency isn't important: cost and size is. If the energy is cheap and abundant (free solar), the conversion rate is unimportant.

I've actually placed my solar panels where they don't get optimal sun because I wanted them out of sight. So I had to double the number of panels i used to get enough power. At under $1 per watt, it's cheap enough to add more panels.

Apparently even small shadows can cause a big drop in power.

Hm. Interesting

My experience had been every panel is ungodly expensive and if you can shave off 2 or 3 then it saves mucho bucks.

Each 370 watt panel costs me about $250. The real cost is installing and wiring. Copper wire is insane now.

Yeah I agree. I remember when on the discovery channel or something like, they had a guy who invented an artificial tree that could absorb many more times the CO2 and convert it to oxygen then a tree. They were even showing how they could float them on the ocean. Never heard a peep about it since.

I don't know that doesn't sound that marketable. The point of global warming is to measure your global footprint, tax it, and socialize your digital money into rich bribes in other countries, leaving you in slave chains.

The adoption of the tree you describe would only be adopted if global warming was real and if it actually made sense.

By the time they build 1 co2 tree, i could have planted 20 for pretty close to free. They almost grow by thieves and require no maintenance.

You know I think you're right.
