NO - Reasoning. Contribution to something is not necessarily an endorsement of that thing. There are a great many documented instances of contribution of effort or assets, without direct endorsement of the thing being contributed to.

Contribution implies support, not responsibility. Supporting something doesn't make a person responsible for it in any terms.

Depends what website. If the website is based on content generated by users, of course they are responsible for success. These users spend their time in creating interesting and useful content for free.

So you would choose to hold readers directly responsible for written words? Writers and opinions require an outlet. They hold no responsibility for the success of that outlet.

Granted. I will submit that if they would like to see a specific outlet continue, then they may find it in their interest to take responsibility for the success. Responsibility on that level cannot really be "taken" You must speak with the creator / owner. They must give you responsibility.

You cannot assume responsibility for things not directly in your control.

Your specific contribution. You are responsible for. The success of the platform, without authority, you cannot be responsible. Responsibility goes hand in hand with authority. Authority need not be a club to just grant responsibility, but some authority must exist for responsibility to exist.

Naturally, if someone or a small group of people exercise veto power over contributors, they will have less enthusiasm to contribute than if they have power over things.
