Lawmakers ruin everything they touch.

More and more regulations like these will ultimately help the established big tech players to keep the market to themselves.

Big tech faced with new onerous regulations? Just throw lawyers and money at the problem and eventually comply under the new system. Maybe bribe some politicians to make the regulations absolutely useless except as a time-wasting exercise.

Small startup or individual who wants to participate in the free market too? Either devote your life to reams of red tape, or pay protection money to lawyers. Or know thy place and get a job working for a firmly established big tech player.

My thoughts: if platforms spent less time trying to censor speech they didn't like and more time fixing the loopholes that hackers and scammers use, the world would be a better place. Focus less on regulating speech and more and stopping real crime.

I am libertarian so I don't always like regulations. I'm on the fence about this.

Someone convince me that this is a good idea. Or, convince me that this is a bad idea.

Want to own any piece of computing technology? Fine, but its use and use of the services it facilitates access to can hurt you if you don't pay attention.
