I'm surprised a new architecture other than x86 or ARM hasn't come out.

RISC-V has made some big moves. They dev boards are pricey, but not too bad.

PPC is still around. You can get POWER9 Talos boards. They're not exactly cheap, but they're not insane either.

A lot of routers still run MIPS (the PS1/PS2 processor)

There's the M1, which I wouldn't consider ARM at all anymore. It's different enough to be a new arch that's ARM based.

I wonder if any of those can be made for a powerful desktop pc.

Normally I wouldn't want another company to monopolise a major market. But it would've made shit harder for China so I don't really care in this case.

China will be happy.

That's a shame. Nvidia could have lit a fire under Intel's ass. AMD is the perpetual Burger King of the semiconductor industry.

I dunno i wasn't really a fan of them acquiring arm because they are shady as fuck with pricing and using artificially created scarcity to drive their products. Just too much power to give to a single company to control 90% of the embedded market as well as the graphics and AI processor design market. Arm basically controls the space outside of workstation pc's and servers and it's a larger market ive got dozens of arm embedded single boards but only 2 workstations/laptops.

I don't think that you can complain that you not being able to get a GPU is artificial scarcity when no one can get chips for anything.

This has been going on for much longer than now. First nvidia card i ever bought was a top of the line ti4600 for the whopping price of $400 in 2000/2001.

They could take the lead with Risc V. The fire is still theirs to light.
