I bought some pieces of Chinese electronics lately and I can tell you that the quality of manufacture was impecable. They could rival the best in their category, no matter American or not. It's only a matter of time before they manage to take the lead.
Meanwhile, in the West scientists have to compete with imported pakis and get labelled as "nerds" and mocked at.
I've said this in another thread and was mocked. They may have stolen everything, but they are using it and improving it. The west is really doing nothing.
