There is literally nothing wrong with this if it works. People just like to complain.
We should tie sea turtles together like sled dogs and use those to travel

What happens when this parachute sail gets tangled up and goes into the water in stormy seas? Then it becomes what is called a "sea anchor." And the ship must drag it all the way to port, or cut it loose and let it sink.
Using the wind to travel the seas is such new technology that it cannot be trusted. It's just too dangerous. We must keep burning bunker fuel to bring cheap plastic Chinese crap to the first world.
It's only used on good days. Which is most days of sea travel.
or wind shifts 90 degrees and ship tilts and cargo containers slide off of ship is my first thought. Better off just using a turbine to produce electricity from wind coming from any direction then use that to produce power instead. Wonder what effect a lightening bolt would have on that since ships produce a charge from the hull when traveling through salt water then that charge should attract lightening in my view with a long line to have it engulf the ship in extreme voltage.
or it hits the water, tears, then clogs up the actual propellers. Ship disabled.
I thought this was satire at first. Must be worth it somehow. I can't really imagine such large craft getting much of a benefit?
I don't think it's as much as they claim, but even 5% savings would be worth it
Each cargo ship pollutes the equivalent of 30-60 million cars a year. But you need to drive less and buy more shit from china.
Exactly right. Switch to local manufacturing for most things and the number of container ships drops precipitously. But that would mean paying something other than slave labor wages and the Parasite Class can never be asked to make that sort of compromise.

Not necessarily, there are measures which could be taken to get the wages in the US to the same slave labor levels and thus get back our manufacturing capacity, yet for some reason it's never spoken of.
lol...well, in a universe of solutions that is a solution. But we are already on that trajectory so then what's the point?
environement fags., The plants need CO2 and the only thing you and Gates need is a bullet
For someone who takes such a hard stance on the envronment you sure can't spell it. Moron.
They've invented the sail.
