Apparently this applies to the remote start option you PAID FOR when you bought the car but to use it you have to cough up $8 a month. Personally I have never trusted remote start since the simple encryption can be defeated and your car stolen. Now they are putting out an app so you can start your car from your phone. Again, bad idea for those whom have a security mindset.

What's wrong with the key? All my cars use old fashioned keys.

had my 2018 tacoma 20 days before i gave up on the 1980's tech head unit that couldnt see folders on the usb stick for my music

I wonder how easy it would be to just compile your own small linux distro for those on-board units, slap Kodi on there, and away you go.
