Apparently this applies to the remote start option you PAID FOR when you bought the car but to use it you have to cough up $8 a month. Personally I have never trusted remote start since the simple encryption can be defeated and your car stolen. Now they are putting out an app so you can start your car from your phone. Again, bad idea for those whom have a security mindset.

What's wrong with the key? All my cars use old fashioned keys.

You're starting to get in to "right to repair" type stuff. John Deere is testing the limits right now and on the way to the Supreme Court. They really mistreat their tractor customers.
