I beat my current mechanical keyboard like a baby seal. My coworkers would like to not hear it on conference calls. Any recommendations on a keyboard thats:

1) Wireless

2) Full size

3) Quiet

4) Has volume keys integrated.

Get a mechanical keyboard with Cherry Brown switches. They have a tactile feedback without the audible click. Or, any cheap old membrane keyboard will be quiter than a mechanical. My advice to you -- tell your coworkers to go fuck themselves, and use Cherry Blue switches. They have the best feedback for typing.

How does the noise profile of cherry brown switches compare to a membrane keyboard? I'm aiming to minimize typing sound since buying a quieter keyboard is easier than retraining myself to stop typing like it's a manual typewriter that requires FORCE to use.

I have a good quality mic with an integrated audio monitor so I can hear myself beating my keyboard like a baby seal, it's not just my coworkers being whiny.

It probably varies from board to board, but I would say membrane boards are quieter, because the keys don't bottom out as hard. You get two clicks from mechanical switches -- the click that is built into some of them, like the Cherry Blues, and the "thump" as the key bottoms out on the board. The keys on a membrane board hit more softly against the bottom. But the typing feel is terrible!

Or add o -rings to the keys to modify the end stroke feel. Lubed is another option, some are sold this way, you can buy custom ones though built to speck.

Once you try one….

A mechanical keyboard with Cherry Brown switches will be significantly louder than a membrane keyboard. The only switches that are somewhat comparable in sound to a membrane keyboard are silent switches. I suggest silent tactile switches for typing but it's all up to your preference.

If you can't hear yourself typing then why bother at all? When I was a kid the keyboards were so loud the neighbors down the street knew when you were on the computer and we liked it that way!

I learned to type on a manual typewriter. Combining that level of force with a mechanical keyboard is understandably...loud. I'd like to be nice and not drum-solo in peoples' ears when I'm on conference calls.

Cherry makes all sorts of keys, you can even buy a sample pack with one if each on it. Quiet, loud, light tactile, none…

Do you have a set budget for it? I find logitech to be a fairly decent brand. I think the G613 might be what you are looking for. If you are in the US, I recommend buying directly from them rather than using amazon.

I'm not really price sensitive, so the budget is "I don't care, I just want to silently beat my keyboard". I took a look at the G613, but it looks like it'd still pretty noisy (probably unavoidable in a mechanical keyboard).

Under features it reads: Romer G mechanical switches deliver quiet, precise mechanical performance and 70 million click life for incredible feel and durability

They might not be completely silent, but quite is better than anything for a mechanical keyboard imo.

Just use O-rings on your keys dude.

O-rings are pretty good but they don't quiet down the upstroke.

A Logitech K270 might be a good option since it meets all of your criteria and it's affordable.

I actually have one floating around my house. Works well enough, but it's too noisy for my liking.

Huh, if a cheap membrane keyboard like that is still too noisy, then I'm not sure what would be quiet enough. Maybe an HP K2500 could work?

I got some zilent v2 tactile switches. I've never been happier... Keyboard typing wise that is

I've got Durock Silent T1 tactile "Shrimp" switches (budget Zilent V2s essentially) and they feel and sound great. They're smooth and very tactile with a decent amount of weight behind them.

Why are you looking to compensat3e for management's failure here? Use whatever loud keyboard you want. Why are you even in an office?

I work remotely and beat my keyboard like a baby seal. It's loud enough that my mic picks it up to an unpleasant degree. I want to fix it because I like my coworkers and want to make their day more enjoyable out of the goodness of my heart.

I went to Walmart yesterday and I saw an Onn. Wireless Silent Fullsize Keyboard on the clearance aisle. It doesn't appear to have dedicated volume keys but it's super quiet and it's only $15 at regular price.

Why not just look for "quiet / silent" mechanical switches for your current keyboard?

Or a proper directional mic that wont pick up background noise.

I spent $30 on my current wireless keyboard, so it's not really worth upgrading.

My mic's directional, but I'd need to boom-mount it to cut down on background noise. That's next on the todo list if replacing my keyboard doesn't help enough.

Any non mechanical keyboard?

Get a regular logitec keyboard for like $10.
