There are projects that are sort of alternatives to the mainstream internut. This article is Google propaganda claiming the internet will be in everything and become such a huge part of life that it will "disappear".

More likely we will see a much stronger crackdown online and no more ability to be anonymous anymore. Already they are forcing people to give their cell phone numbers and tie their cell phones to services and those without a cell phone are excluded. The commies took over the USA and look what China does there regarding the internet. It's coming here and it's coming fast.

I mean im just going to abandon the mainstream internet for the most part eventually. I don't have a use for all these devices if they are reporting everything back to corporate controlled servers. And a lot of this IOT stuff isn't hard to do yourself with stuff like an rpi or stm32 modules. I think what's really lacking though is good point to point communication over distance with people/things on a closed network. I mess around with HAM radio a bit but lack of encryption really limits its use cases. LORA sets do really well for communication in the 1-10 mile radiuses though and you can build meshes with those. The reality is though that you dont want 90% of the sheep masses in your closed network. All they do is wreck shit and complain about how their sensibilities were offended.

Twitter does that if you accidentally log in using an IP from another country, which will happen all the time if you use a VPN.

They claim it's for "security" but we all know it's about harvesting your personal information. If they really cared about security, they would just implement a 2FA, not demand your phone number. I mean, if it was a hacker, they could enter their own phone number and take over your account. Fuck Twitter.
