That doesn't mean they will be able to pick the best one. The Lightning cable is the basis for USB-C, that is why USB is now dual insertable. Apple was part of that design for USB-C. The EU didn't come up with that design, nor they ever make a recommendation for solving the USB connector problem. There is no reason for this regulation. How about they regulate the niggers coming in first, that would reduce a lot more waste.
