Laptops already have all the same connectors.
Magnetic connectors are also not proprietary. If you can find them on eBay, anybody can make them.
The slippery slope argument is not a real argument.
This entire argument is over a niche connector. I don't think the regulation is necessary, but once the question is posed, there is no real argument against it. This is a losing battle for all of you attempting to. I don't have a dog in this fight, I'm just following logic and so far my minimal effort is winning the argument. The only thing that will stop this from happening is large sums of money being distributed to the proper pockets, otherwise known as business as usual.
MagSafe connector by Apple is proprietary. Laptops don't all have the same connector.
Man you really don't know anything here.
Prove that.
There are no third party MagSafe chargers. MagSafe 1 and 2 were like that, 3 could be different, but with Apple being Apple, I doubt it.
You can go look up any patents yourself.
But this is getting away from the main topic, governments shouldn't be worrying about the charging port on my computer/cell phone.
It starts with a port, then they will have regulations on the way a computer can be built.
