MagSafe connector by Apple is proprietary. Laptops don't all have the same connector.
Man you really don't know anything here.
Prove that.
There are no third party MagSafe chargers. MagSafe 1 and 2 were like that, 3 could be different, but with Apple being Apple, I doubt it.
You can go look up any patents yourself.
But this is getting away from the main topic, governments shouldn't be worrying about the charging port on my computer/cell phone.
It starts with a port, then they will have regulations on the way a computer can be built.
Usually the government doesn't need to be involved because the market is corrected by the consumer. In computers, it's regulated by the manufacturers due to production demands. And yes, there are massive regulations on the way a computer can be built.
But if you have a representative government, this is exactly what they are supposed to do. Apparently this was a concern with enough people that the government stepped in to do their job.
I should also repeat that the slippery slope argument is not a valid argument.
