Great video! Takes me back 30 years to when I was nerding out with Radio Shack stuff. BTW, the actual content in the video starts at 3:15.

Those old rat shack floor sweeping parts. I remember buying a bunch of the LM317 and LM337s they sold. The 317s were fine, every one of the 337 would get progressively noisier and self-destruct after a few days of operation. Didn't matter how well you filtered or bypassed, just noise, noise, noise, noise, zzzt.

I loved those LED packs, tho. They were great, you got all kinds of cool parts. I still have a handful of LEDs laying around from those.

I'd have to say the electrolytic capacitor was the most significant invention. Nothing is really possible without those.

Many things are important. But capacitors don't provide from our technology base.

The electrolytic made movement from simple spark-gap transmission and crystal reception possible. Without it, you'd have no modern electronics.
