It is super dead in calfoirnia, they cut the hours down to 30 in response to ObamaCare to not give the slaves their benefits, they cut the hours yet again each time they rose the minimum wage, and the hours are once again being cut because of the pandemic. It is now common for a working slave to have at least 4 jobs just to get by but somehow the solution is to give the commies even more power over policy making.
Sounds like people need to get some skills instead of working jobs that will be replaced with robots. If you need 4 jobs to survive you are either living way beyond your means or you are working shit jobs that take no skill.
I don't expect a change. Most workplaces don't provide 40 hours of actual work. Many are getting their tasks done in far less time, and sitting in a cube waiting to go home.
Good luck getting in with a trade union. The boomers working trades want sky high wages, so they don't train apprentices that aren't family or friends. What's the alternative? College and massive student loan debt?
I will say that the comment above yours is inaccurate. There are living wage jobs with no experience required, but they're factory or warehouse work. Not bad work depending on the company, but you need to live near a facility. If you don't like the company or the work there aren't many other options. And both factory and warehouse work will be automated if the lights don't go out in the next few years.

I suspect DropBox is talking about salaried positions. I think people have been working less during the pandemic. Remains to be seen if that will kill productivity, which was pretty high in the US
