Was just at the AT&T store because I want something newer. Anyway, the clerk did everything possible to talk me out of buying a new phone and wait for the iPhone 13. Finally he caved and came back and said the phone I wanted wasn't in stock and to order it online. Damn, what an asshole.

Anyway it got me to thinking, just how much more shit can they shove into a phone? I am guessing plenty of spyware and surveillance shit but what useful shit can they put in?

You'll notice that everything they add to "smartphones" these days IS spyware

Facial Recognition, more+better cameras, more+better mics, finger print scanners, biometric sensors, GPS, fucking LiDAR, etc. etc. etc.

It's ALWAYS painted as being "useful" for one thing or another. Yet, despite all the bullshit in smartphones, one can live a fully capable and happy life without any of that shit. In the same way, social media is fed as a necessity, even though it's more like poison than bread.

Lambs to the slaughter.
