I am a VP of Technology with 27 years of custom software development experience in some very large organizations. UML was awesome, but this article nailed it. Sadly, design is no longer valued, and Rational hasn't been relevant in probably 15 years.
I fucking hate Agile. It has its place, but it doesn't scale (blow me SAFe) and has a huge number of use cases where it is an actively detrimental methodology. Try agile-ing your way through a data migration cutover, for example. Always remember the manifesto was motivated by developers who hated writing documentation and being beholden to management.
