quite a few mouse brands, including some gaming mice, are using the Omron 50m micro-switches and they are JUNK!

usually it's easy to avoid them because manufactures are all to eager to advertise that their switches have a lifespan of 50 million clicks ... yes, that's equivalent to 8.333 holocausts if you were wondering ... in reality you're lucky if they last a few months

if you have one of these gems, is cheap and easy as long as you can solder

if you want to know about mouse switches, see...

and especially his

the mechanical switches used in mice are all junk to an extent - Razer has started using which look very promising and their products seem to be very good quality, albeit expensive - other manufactures will follow suit i expect

edit: i see is also using optical switches in some of their mice

Omron used to make some decent parts. Guess moving to China kills everything.

i'm not saying that all their switches are garbage, but the 50m's are - i replaced mine with a pair of Huano Blue Shell Pink Dot's (the 50m's were used only for the primary and secondary buttons)

I'm not saying any of their stuff is good these days, just that they used to have a decent reputation for stuff that worked. Apparently that's no longer the case.
