That's the entire point.
The reason I comment on the screen is because usually, these direct-from-china-very-much-goodly-game-for-you have terrible, terrible screens with horrible color representation and tearing that would make a papermill cry in fear. This one does not, and it actually seems to be a decent handheld device.

It's more commenting on how much better this one looks compared to other devices of just a year ago. Since it's a GNU/Linux device, I'm more interested in what else it can do.

If that's really what you want, you might consider just installing Linux or a custom Android on a cheap mobile phone and using one of gamepad attachments.
