The demand went through the roof because trainloads of people who didn't give too much of a fuck about computers ended up with only that as entertainment, which doesn't only imply an increase in personal computers/hardware demand, but additional hardware server side to keep up with the sudden ever increasing demand/traffic

And then manufacturers had to update their hardware too to keep up with the demand

A sort of self reinforcing loop, a chain reaction

I built an entirety new high-end PC a few months back but continue to use two 5 year old cards in sli due to this video card supply shit-show that's going on. You'd have to be unemployed and refreshing about 6 sites all day long in order to get the chance to add a card to your checkout and then even then still probably fail to get one. I will not pay these fucking scalpers a dime.
