I wouldn't say mostly trash, it's not bad, it's actually pretty good enough

Consider the price range, it's not cheap while it's not a $2500 computer, and consider also that it's 100% linux compatible and NOT made in china (while some parts probably are), and it's fully customizable (available in azerty/qwertz, etc). It's not easy to find a laptop that checks all the boxes, it's rare

That being said I get what you mean, the dc barrel connector is old school, 1999 style, but that's not a real problem to me. To which you could reply "Until a moron trips on the wire". Yeah.

Doesn't sound too enticing, maybe I'll get one less ram slot with a modern ThinkPad but the keyboard and chassis is 👌

Yeah thinkpads are not fancy but pretty solid choices

Now it's chinese company

...

It's hard to get all the ckeckboxes checked

Starlabs laptops are pretty sexy https://starlabs.systems/

Especially the mkIII for less than 500 bucks https://starlabs.systems/pages/lite-mk-iii

The mkIV being the tougher version for a little more than 800 https://starlabs.systems/pages/labtop-mk-iv

But customization is limited (no azery/qwertz keyboards, no "enhanced"/full keyboards)
