Seriously my 2070 is more than good enough. I got a 18% frame rate bump from upgrading my CPU which is actually in stock and not price gouged. To get a similar bump from a graphics card I would have had to spend an extra $1,000. Instead for $450 I got an 8 core processor that smashes my old 6 core to dust.

Fuck graphics cards, fuck ethereum, fuck the fbi, and fuck the jews.

The only things you'd need a high end graphics card for are AAA games. Considering the only one worth a damn is Doom, there's no reason to get another one.

Get into 3d design. Render out 3 minutes of video, 4k tiff images, with 20+ sources of light, high quality shadows, particle fx, materials to the sky, high vert counts, massive AA sampling, massive spec sampling, so on. 3 min = 180 sec = 5394.6 frames (at 29.97 NTSC standard) = 1618380 sec (at 5 min per rendered frame) = 26973 min = 449.55 hours = 18.73125 days of render time. Granted, 5 min per frame is really high, but you can see how things can escalate quickly. Thats assuming nothing crashes, and you don't even look at the computer. I would transition for a double stack of 2070, 64 memory and a 16 core.

Half-Life Alyx and Metro Exodus were both pretty cool imo.

I usually am playing Minecraft or CS:GO tho tbh.

You don't need a good graphics card for any of those. I just got the Acer Nitro 5 laptop with the GTX 1650 and it plays everything up to 2019 or so on ultra around 60 fps. $150 card for desktops.

I need one for VR and another for accelerated video encoding. Guess I'll have to wait a couple of years...
