Sigagpore and Taiwan for example are allowed to be these issuers of SSL/TLS certs, and they're making free money off of it. Yet companies like Apple and Google and friends are not doing this.

I'm noticing a pattern with old British/European outputs in Asia getting these special privileges. Everywhere we see Europeans in Asia we see it built up as fuck, and those respective nations are project a ethno-nationalist perception in the world. Simultaneously European countries suppress theirs, and their governments take a violence, oppressive stance against the people seeing their nations as great and they sure as hell won't let the ethnic part of it all shine through.

I think what's happening, given that every Asian nation that seems to be built up and doing well is an old European outpost in Asia, is being used as a means to control the rest of Asia - not that this is necessarily a good thing.

And a funny example is Taiwan. Taiwan is "built up" but it's sputtering, and this makes complete sense because the Europeans and Americans can't fully get in there because of the One China Two Systems policy.... my theory matches precisely with this.

I have a growing suspicion that Japan's recent decisions to "go woke" suggest that they've been accepting some sort of welfare from the US or Europe, and I'm not just talking about using the US military to secure trade and oil from the ME; I think it's more than that. This would explain why the US goes out of its way to let Japan send in spies to find people reverse engineering their Nintendo products; anyone recall that legal doc where Nintendo had spies watching that guy reverse engineering the GBA (I think that was the handheld he was working on), and they were talking about how he took his kids to daycare at a certain time and all that? And that was important because the courts will know to punish him harder if he has daycare available or not?

Anyways, I have more thoughts, but I'm curious if anyone knows anything about this or what. I do know that there's no way the Brits and French gave up their colonies after WW2, and they're about to take them back from the Chinese in africa as well.

ANy thoughts?

Anyone can be a certificate authority. For example, here's mozilla's guidelines for joining their trusted CA list: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/governance/policies/security-group/certs/policy/#inclusion

Microsoft, Apple, etc have their own guidelines. But there is no restriction on actually creating your own root certificate.

I'm sure this is the case, but what's the deal with certain places raking in nearly all the cash, and I couldn't find a single american company to buy mine from in 2016...
