If it's not a meme or a shitpost, Poal (and previously Voat) just doesn't care about it. That says a lot about what sites like these are really here for.
Ya I have to agree, Always cater to the lowest common denominator. Not to say I don’t enjoy a little fun with my info. In fact I find it quite necessary, but I also find actual information to be quite necessary as well. Side note, your into synths right? The failure of the gig economy due due lockdowns has an abundance of gear available on sites like Craigslist. I’m actually blown away by the volume of goods to be had.
Sadly what you say is definitely true. The lowest common denominator wins over knowledge and information. We're a dying breed who still have thoughts and ideas that are more cerebral than carnal. The masses prefer the latter so information and discussion die quickly in the dark. Very sad.
Yeah I'm definitely into synths. I tend to do my gear buying on eBay since my local area is a bit on the drier side when it comes to gear that isn't drums or guitars. I hit the local pawn shops every now and then and have scored a few good pieces for reasonably low prices. I tend to buy gear that is broken or dead if the price is right and work on bringing them back to life. It's a gamble though as parts are getting scarce for the 80s and 90s vintage stuff I like. I'll check Craigslist since I haven't done so in about a year. Maybe the pandemic shook some stuff loose and I can score something interesting locally. Thanks for the tip/reminder!
I would say its not the sites but the nature of humans. People care about what makes them feel emotions. The simpler the content the easier it is to have an emotional reaction to.
