admittedly Firefox is not an ideal browser and the parent company, Mozilla, is , however the developers working on Firefox are very privacy oriented - an example of this is the which is a process of incorporating in Firefox the privacy advantages of the Tor browser which is a modified version of Firefox
at this time Firefox is the best suited, well rounded browser for security and privacy hardening in my considered opinion
