was recommended to me by someone who seems to be extremely technically inclined with privacy, Tor and VPNs

anyone here using their service?

the highlights are are...

  • they own and physically install the servers themselves, which is probably why there are so few
  • there is no physical media in their servers - everything runs in memory
  • before they install a server, they seal the external ports (USB, etc.) to prevent tampering
  • they support the WireGuard protocol
  • no credentials are needed to purchase, not even an email address, and you can pay with crypto

i'm currently using NordVPN but i'm always very suspicious about these huge companies and there has been some controversy with Nord

The review sites are only where you start (after you know what questions to ask and what to look for). While they gather together a lot of info that would take much tedious Google searching to replicate, they are not the end destination, and fact-checking is required. Way too many idiots on other forums want me to just tell them which VPN to choose, because they are too damn lazy to do the homework necessary to make an informed decision. Instead I tell them to flip a coin. Picking a VPN is an important decision that most prefer to treat flippantly, then bitch and whine when it fails to live up to their expectations.
