I know of:

  • TOR (and the hidden wiki and ahmia to find stuff on it)

  • I2P (don't know how to find any good sites on it)

  • Zeronet (know very little about it, I kept hearing a bunch of people say it'll put CP on your computer by accident)

I used to use Bitmessage a long time ago, before it kept breaking. Tell me as much as you know, or where to find out. Thank you.

Well it's a list of commonly available tools it's not bad but that's not going to define your needs for you, that's where you need to start

What degree of online privacy do you need to begin with? If you want "total online privacy" don't go over the internet lol. Now more seriously, if you want to turn your pc into a stealth machine there are ways but then you'll appear as an oddity over the network... You're that one bizarre thing on the radar that simply is way too different from the rest to look honest. Nobody knows what you're hiding but what is known is that you went to great length to hide something, see what I mean? That's the problem with tor, you're still a tor user....

For most people, normal people that aren't completely tech dumb of course, not giving into illegal stuffs and who don't need to use proprietary softwares, I would recommend a linux based OS for instance, debian or derivative (some will tell you BSD or bust, debian is just my preference and I use a custom build of debian, which isn't necessarily what's best suited for you or even the ideal way to go about it, that's just me), with a browser equipped with ublockorigin. From there, you avoid the most common privacy invasive softwares and practices mostly coming from the commercial world. And of course, start by not spreading your own personal information on social media, eh (proceeds by telling what OS and what browser he uses anyways). Personally I use chromium and some will scream murder because I do

Now maybe you want to go full james bond but as I've said already, it's not necessarily what you want, because you have people whose job is to track the full james bonds, because there's a reason why you want to go full james bond, and chances are it's not necessarily because you have good intents

>Use Tor or 'extremist' Tails Linux? Congrats, you're on an NSA list

>Alleged leaked documents about the NSA's XKeyscore snooping software appear to show the paranoid agency is targeting Tor and Tails users, Linux Journal readers – and anyone else interested in online privacy.

Logic, I would run a snooping agency I would also target those users first for obvious reasons lol

I super appreciate that you took the time for that overview. I have read the same about TOR before as well. Thank you again and Merry Christmas!

So just using Tails gets the NSA after you? In that case I recommend EVERYONE use Tails. That proves the NSA has BAD intent and oversteps it's authority and needs to be eradicated. I mean, the feds are so fucking incompetent and/or corrupt they totally ignore a confession by the former VP about blackmailing a whole nation, who sons collect money from hostile foreigners, and their biggest recent bust was a VERY DANGEROUS white nationalists with evil intent who's mommy made the 17 year old take down his NAZI flags!

Pretty much

> In that case I recommend EVERYONE use Tails.

Yeah... Did you try it at least before recommending that? Ideally tail is supposed to run on a live USB....
