I feel overwhelmed, but these are good lists.
Can you tell me whether the stuff I mentioned in the OP about Zeronet is true or not?
Edit: Also, why use Tor v. I2P v. Freenet v. Zeronet v. etc.? Do they all have their specific niche use-cases?
I wouldn't use zeronet, in fact, while there are a lot of options, as far as I'm concerned, the lighter the better, in terms of footprint/installation
zeronet is pretty "invasive" not in terms of privacy but in terms of installation, I don't even have a clear idea of what gets installed and what keeps on working or not once shut down. And it's even more of a problem on a phone because of the little control you're offered over the overall machine
I'm all clearnet, I just use a web browser in incognito mode (so I don't have to clean my cache all the time) with ublockorigin, that's all. And I don't or extremely rarely go on facebook, sometimes I go on twitter to grab a link, and I have zero account over there, same for facebook same for youtube no account, in fact I'm a big lurker, I rarely register anywhere
That's for the overall philosophy, don't put your dick in crazy. At the same time I'm here lol
I shouldn't even tell you about all this, but well, I'm a nobody. I'm not super hackman up to super hackshit. I read the news. Mostly zerohedge btw
But I'm tempted to start using freenet again. Last time I tried to install it, the graphical interface was lame and it was long ago, and the graphical interface is for total noobs for a quick try if memory serves, it's not intended to be used that way, it's just a convenient way for a try. And something went wrong it didn't work but really, I didn't try hard it was like poof let's click here done, work doesn't work, ok ciao. I haven't done it seriously
Why freenet? Because it's mature, it's rather old, it has its reputation. The only downside of freenet last time I heard (again long ago) is thatnit's rather slow, it's not intended for video streaming, but it's perfectly suited for text/image based communication

And IPFS also, looks interesting, but same deal it's limited in some fashion
