Never understood what problem they are trying to solve.
If you are Snowden and have glowniggers after you, why on earth would you base the security of your communications on networks like twatter and faceberg?
Didn't try their chat app. Is it better than Matrix/Element? I have it as a backup, since Discord doesn't show signs of monitoring servers for wrongthink yet.
keybase is alright. i think they are trying to be a miniature social network for security folk. they have a 'follow' system. never understood that shit. they do have a good model though -- if you lose access to your shit the only thing you can do to get into it is to let them completely trash your account. so you can never get in if you're not already in, basically.
So pretty much as if I locally encrypted my files and just kept them backed up with some Dropbox-like service.
On one hand it may have some appeal for the normies, which is a good thing. On the other hand, it is now owned by Zoom, so who knows how will it evolve down the road.
