keybase is alright. i think they are trying to be a miniature social network for security folk. they have a 'follow' system. never understood that shit. they do have a good model though -- if you lose access to your shit the only thing you can do to get into it is to let them completely trash your account. so you can never get in if you're not already in, basically.

So pretty much as if I locally encrypted my files and just kept them backed up with some Dropbox-like service.

On one hand it may have some appeal for the normies, which is a good thing. On the other hand, it is now owned by Zoom, so who knows how will it evolve down the road.

kinda but it's meant for chat, really. they have peer to peer chat with bidirectional delete options for both ends, and they have groups/rooms for people who use it for work.

had no idea zoom took over it. they are definitely pozzed and have chinabot all over em. fuuuck
