I remember how f-droid made a point that the Gab app should be censored and all fediverse instances should not allow participation to Gab. That was when Gab made a move to offer access through Mastodon(?) instances. I don't remember the exact details, but everyone who would offer access to Gab was to be outcasted by the rest and a similar policy was to be implimented concerning all free speech outlets. (F-droid had made an announcement that they don't like free speech)

So fediverce may not be "owned" by a single person in the traditional sense, but it is controlled by SJWs who will quickly demand that everyone avoids your instance if you don't capitulate.

Which is the reason I prefer to wait for "Mobile Linux" instead of depending on the whims of the f-droid clique.

Again, the fediverse is not controlled by F-Droid. The only thing they can control is what apps are on their official repository. They can't actively control which instances on the fediverse can federate or not.
