There's no real conspiracy behind it, just YouTube realizing that they don't have enough storage in their data-centers to store videos from 9 years ago in full quality, especially something as "unimportant" to them as an LP of an old Video Game.

But yeah, they probably need more space for their data mining activities. I'd not be surprised, if so.
