Free basic mobile Internet is a concept where people can have free unlimited Internet access through their SIM card, although at a very limited speed.

In the last few years, the prices for the same mobile data have been falling down to a fraction.

Soon, there could possibly be a basic free low-bandwidth mobile Internet access for everyone with a SIM card.

Probably, South Korea (world's digital infrastructure kings) will get that first. Then, the rest of the world will slowly follow along.

Corporatist profits first

There's a massive corporatist "free" offer already, don't underestimate the free stuff part, it's not because there's no old fashioned direct toll on it that it's not interesting regarding larger ways of making a profit

Don't let a cheap connection get in the way of a trojan horse right up your consumers' ass 24/7

AT&T and T-Mobile offer 64kbps internet via cellular, although it's mostly for M2M uses.

I have one, it's $25 a year for a 64kbps connection. That's enough to send simple data and talk to mail servers, but that's never going to work with today's craptastic heavy websites.
