there will always be truck drivers/operators. there are not going to let one operate without one. because they'd get sued to hell if one ever crashed killing a family. plus a little thing called the weather.

There will likely be truck operators in the same sense as drone operators. They will work remotely and only intervene when they need to in order to reconcile issues that crop up. Effectively there would be 1/10th the amount of operators needed. Most trucking is cross country and would be mundane to take care of.

You're right. Everything will stay static forever and companies will never try to lower their overhead with automation.
