Of course they wouldn't do this deliberately, but you can't forget the staggering amount of incompetence they have going on under the hood there, so frequently!

But then: INCOMPETENCE! I mean, that level of extreme incompetence is becoming more rare, fortunately, but still.

I've picked up a few devices at hamfests over the years that groups has helped revive - the latest being some early 2000s Internet radio device. The last firmware and updater were posted, some suggested tweaks, and an admittedly old looking but still perfectly useful DLNA and Shoutcast capable audio player sits on the table.

It's going to be like Geocities being nuked. A lot of crap will be gone, but those little gems here and there will also be gone too. I can understand they probably don't want to maintain it, but why it can't be read-only or simply given to the Internet Archive is beyond me.
