Backroom deals and government backdoors with investment from government directly and through government owned companies and 'non-profits' (yeah, they exist). It is a "granted monopoly" for a reason. No one is talking about breaking up Microsoft but they sure like to talk about breaking up Alphabet/google. Neither should be as big or powerful as they are. Along with a few dozen (at a minimum) companies. This is by design.
