Fun fact, gays and people with terminal illnesses for a long time were not allowed on the list because it was unknown what damage the blood could have taken on, and it was very difficult to test. As such, until the 90s, being gay, having a terminal illness, doing drugs, or really not being perfect was grounds for immediate dismissal when it came to organ and blood transplants.
