So I'm taking my camper to favorite spot of mine. On the way there I almost got it stuck and a big pile of muddy water. It came up fast because it's dark out and I shouldn't have been driving but I just felt the urge to go to this spot so I left just as the sun was going down. Rookie mistake number one. Luckily I have all-terrain tires and I at least had 10 ft to react. So I gunned it and got 95% through and then spun the tires for just a quick second which splattered cement mud all over my camper so that should be fun washing off. Then about 5 minutes later on the same road I was passing through a cattle guard and then all of a sudden a head turned around and there was the ass of a cow about two feet off of my front bumper. Lucky for me I wasn't driving fast so I was able to move out of the way but if I hit him it would have ripped the front of my camper off and then I would have been stuck on a back road in Arizona until after Christmas. Yeehaw..

Merry Christmas everyone!

Merry Christmas to everyone indeed!

Just had a lot of rain blow through AZ just this past Wed & Thur. One to two inches in some places, which is a lot to get at once for the last twenty some years. Definitely cooled things off! It had been perfect temps. What part of the state are you in?

Eastern side. Still pretty gooey.

Yeah I bet it is. Did you get in the pines or are you out there where the wind blows?

Basin and range mostly.

Ahhh, tales of Time on The Road. I'm enjoying the travelogue, Papatooth. Glad you didn't nail em. Merry Christmas!

I hit one on a farm road on a motorcycle, guess I blacked out for a bit cause I got third degree burn on my leg from the exhaust. I use to bump them all the time on the private road in the truck to get them out of the way till one kicked my headlight out. Fuckin cows.

Here in Tx is you cross a cattle guard your on private property.

Gosh darn cattle and headlights that's pretty funny. I think it's the same way here in Arizona private verse public with the cattle guards and I believe that road goes in between both.

I have read on some forums that some places its still public, even with gates. But thats crazy.

Lots of BLM and State Trust Lands in AZ that get leased for grazing. Lots of cattle guards, and gates you leave as found. It’s a free range state so if you have a parcel in the middle of or next to a large swath leased or owned by a rancher it’s up to the owner of the parcel to fence off your property line to keep livestock out. Orrr, if you the parcel owner and a few other nearby owners partition the farm bureau for a no fence district it becomes the ranchers responsibility to keep his livestock off your property. It’s weird.
